Seeking Parent Representative for the Board of Directors (2025-2026)

Posted Date: 4/10/25 (10:00 PM)

As the school year nears its end, we're starting the process of finding a new parent to serve on our Board of Directors. This important role ensures that a parent's voice is consistently heard in district-level discussions at our Board meetings, as outlined in our bylaws.

Seeking a Parent Rep for 2025-26How the Parent Representative is Chosen:
Our Board has a set process for selecting the Parent Representative each year. Here's how it works:
  • The term is one year and cannot be renewed immediately.
  • The Parent Representative is chosen from a campus level that is different from the faculty representative. Since our current faculty representative is from the secondary level, the next Parent Representative will be a parent of a secondary student (grades 5-12 next year).
  • The Parent Representative role rotates between the different campuses at that level each year.

We deeply appreciate Stefanie Wheat-Johnson's dedication this year as our Elementary Parent Representative.
We are now accepting nominations from parents of students who will be in 5th through 12th grade next year.

What the Parent Representative Does:
The Parent Representative is expected to:
  • Attend all Board meetings.
  • Be available to parents across the district.
  • Communicate regularly with the GEO representatives at each campus.
  • Attend additional school activities when possible.
  • Complete a mandatory 12 hours of state-required training (for new members).
  • Potentially attend extra meetings for emergencies or strategic planning.
If you or someone you know is interested in this opportunity, please send your contact information to me at aneumann@rapswaco.org.

We need to hold an information session in May so the new representative can begin service at the July Board meeting.

Thank you for your consideration!
