School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a parent-led group, appointed by the school district, that focuses on issues related to: 

  • Family and community involvement
  • Nutrition
  • Physical education
  • Health education
  • Counseling, psychological & social services
  • Health services
  • Health promotion for school staff

Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community, and from within the school district. The majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the school district. Past SHAC committees have been instrumental in:

  • Reviewing and adopting a sex education curriculum
  • Reviewing and adopting a PE curriculum
  • Installing speed bumps on the secondary campus
  • Organizing a flu shot clinic
